E1 announced that it’s set to host a race in Rotterdam and will be working closely together with the World Port Days organisers.

The announcement was made during a media gathering held on board the Nieuwe Maze, where championship co-founders Rodi Basso, Alejandro Agag, and the boat’s designer Sophi Horne met with senior figures from the World Port Days, the Port of Rotterdam, and Rotterdam Partners.

During the proceedings, members of the E1 team participated in a signing ceremony together with Purpose Pole Position, who signed a letter of intent to bring a UIM E1 World Championship race to Rotterdam in future seasons.

Purpose Pole Position has partnered with E1 to secure the rights as official promoter of the race in Rotterdam. They will work closely and collaborate with the city officials and stakeholders in order to incorporate electric boat racing in the World Port Days.

Fans and spectators will be able to see the RaceBird in action this weekend, with the prototype conducting low-speed runs on the water in front of the famous Erasmus Bridge from Friday to Sunday.

E1 also intends to return to Rotterdam for next year’s World Port Days in 2023 for a special launch presentation with multiple boats racing on the water, celebrating the countdown to the start of the championship.
